The Climate Platform is seeking highly skilled candidates with sectoral knowledge and expertise to join our Roster of Consultants for work on climate-related assignments.
The Climate Platform is a private sector vehicle for achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement. We work with international agencies such as the World Bank, the African Development Bank (AfDB), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and many more to deliver services across the climate value chain. Our work contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and to enhancing the climate-resilience of the most vulnerable people and communities in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Small-Island Developing States (SIDS). The elevation of human dignity through the alleviation of climate risk and vulnerabilities are of paramount concern to the Climate Platform. The escalating nature of the climate emergency is driving the need for easier and swifter access to climate finance for countries in the developing world. The Climate Platform is dedicated to taking action and building relationships to deliver sustainable climate impacts where they are most needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in stakeholder consultations at global/regional/national levels.
- Provide technical services, based on candidate’s sectoral expertise, to develop, review and contribute to Feasibility Studies, Evaluation Reports, Concept Notes, Funding Proposals, Readiness Proposals etc.
- Provide responses to clients’ comments, in area of expertise, on draft versions of the Climate Platform’s products.
- Collaborate effectively with other members of the consultancy team throughout the duration of assignments.
- Uphold the values of the Climate Platform and maintain the highest levels of integrity and professionalism while undertaking activities related to the contracted assignment.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced University degree, or University degree with experience and training/courses in one or more of the following disciplines: climate change, environmental studies, agriculture, development studies, gender, energy, engineering, public health, or related area.
- A minimum of 2 years postgraduate job-related experience in climate change, environmental management, agriculture, forestry, international development, renewable energy, public health, water security or related area.
- Experience working on climate change mitigation and/or adaptation projects or programmes.
- Progressive experience in developing climate-related knowledge products is essential.
- Proven experience and ability to draft project proposals for the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and/or the Adaptation Fund (AF).
- Proven ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Familiarity and work experience in Africa, Asia, Latin America or SIDS.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Knowledge of other UN languages, especially French and Spanish, besides English is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in Windows, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
